What's in a Citation?

Most citations include the following information:

  • Author(s) (Either a person, an organization or corporate author.)
  • Title
  • Source (Such as place of publication and publisher for books; or title, volume, issue number, and pages numbers for periodicals.)
  • Date
  • URL (Uniform Resource Locator) for Internet sources

Information is arranged based on the type of material. Some citation types also include additional information.
