Schedule a class or workshop            Print/Mobile Page

Before the library instruction...

Students attending sessions in the library should have:

  1. reviewed Navigating Library Research
  2. taken a library skills pretest with results sent to the librarian
  3. your enthusiasm and encouragement about how valuable the library is as a resource in their academic success!

Faculty need to:

  1. send the librarian a syllabus and related assignment
  2. talk to the librarian about designing a pre or post assessment
  3. consult with the librarian on the curriculum and expectations
  4. be concerned if you do not hear from the librarian!  Your reservation may not have included a library instructor.

Schedule a class - give us at least 7 business days notice!

View the schedule and request a class

New!  Student drop-in classes!  Learn the basics of GoogleDocs, database searching, legal info, PowerPoint and more.

When scheduling a class:

1. Check the confirmation notice. Your request will be pending until a librarian is found to teach the class.

2. An email will arrive (in a few days) with the librarians name and contact information.

3. If you do not receive both of these notices email Mary Dodge in the Instruction Department.

4. Plan on attending the library session. Library instruction is a collaboration.

Locations:

  • Jackson Enhanced Learning Center (ELC)   - computer lab and meeting room
  • Room 245 - computer lab
  • Online: the librarian can be a presenter in your online course via Adobe Connect or other web conferencing software.
  • Your classroom or lab
  • Library Learning Commons: many areas of the library first floor are conducive to small class gathering. You are welcome to use these on a space available basis.

Can't schedule a class?

There may be times when library lab space or a librarian is unavailable.  When that happens there are some options:

  • If the lab space is not available, we can come to your class.
  • Assign our modular, online class "Navigating Library Research" to your students.
  • You can use the library lab without a librarian present.
