Overview of Assignment

Prepare a literature review of a legislative policy, using primary sources from Congress and journal articles and other secondary literature.

See also Public Affairs library subject guide for sources.

Selection of the Law

It is generally recommended to use a law passed after 1978 since Auraria became a federal depository then. On the other hand, a very recent law may not have all the documents received yet, nor has there been time to assess the impact. Select a law for which you can find sufficient secondary material in journals or other periodicals to provide background and show impact. Select a law which is a manageable size; a portion of a long law can be analyzed, but it can be more tedious to find the supporting documents.
