Navigating Library Research: Home

A not-for-credit course offered by the Auraria Library. Auraria Campus instructors are encouraged to incorporate modules into their courses.

Welcome

Welcome to the Auraria Library! Navigating Library Research is a not-for-credit course. It was created to help Auraria Campus students and faculty develop their research skills, both in the Library and in the world at large. The skills learned through this course will help you perform research more efficiently in a wide variety of subject areas.

Navigating Library Research was created with funding from CU Online.

For Faculty

Navigating Library Research can be used as a whole, or one unit at a time.  Faculty are encouraged to assign one or more units as part of their courses.

Please note that assignments cannot be submitted directly to the library.  Instead, ask your students to download the assignments and submit them directly to you.

Feel free to contact the Auraria Library Instruction Department for more information.

For Students

Completing one or more units of Navigating Library Research is a great way to build up your research skills.  You're welcome to work through the course on your own.  Please contact the library if you need assistance or suggestions.

How Should I Use This Course?

Navigating Library Research is designed to be modular and self paced.  Instructors can specify that students use the course in a specific order or assign certain units and not others. Most units contain activities that will involve practice using the concepts that were discussed

As an online student you may want to start with units that pertain to questions that are the most pressing for you at the moment.  At the start of the semester this may be an overview of library resources.  Once you begin using our resources, look back at the course to see what the best databases may be along with the tools for using them. The units along the top navigation bar are the chapters of the course.  Click on each unit heading to see the content sections within that unit. We will continue to modify the course during the semester and will use your feedback to add units and make adjustments to the content.

Feel free to contact your library instructors if you have any questions about the course or your research!

How the Units are Organized

Each unit is divided into several sections.  Each section is found within a separate box on the unit page.  Make sure you scroll all the way down to see all of the different sections.
