About Citing Government Resources

It is important to cite government documents in order to give credit to the person or agency that created a document as well as making it easier for  readers to find the source material for themselves.

However, citing these resources can be a bit tricky because different material types or types of government resources may have specific guidelines on proper citation. In addition to this, how you will cite these resources depends upon what style of citation you are using: MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.

Always check with your instructor about which citation style you should be using.
