The papers of Donald Sutherland comprise a large part of a collection which also includes several books, periodicals, and art objects belonging to the prominent literary figure and University of Colorado-Boulder professor. The bulk of the manuscript material was produced during the years when Sutherland was most active in the teaching and writing professions (ca. 1940-1975), up to the time of his death in 1978. Because there are several materials that relate to and were created by some of his older relatives, the earliest papers date back to the late 19th century.
The Colorado Women’s conference was held at the University of Colorado at Boulder, June 3-5, 1977. The collection consists primarily of correspondence, minutes, and reports related to the planning and implementation of the state conference.

Auraria Campus in Downtown Denver is a higher education campus that was constructed through an urban renewal project that displaced approximately 900 individuals. This collection contains administrative records and materials related to the relocation of residents from the Auraria Urban Renewal Project site, including reports, informational notices, planning committees’ meeting records, clippings, and articles.
The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom collection includes material dating from 1951-1970. Subjects include women of Colorado, civil resistance, peace, pacificism, disarmament, and other political activities of that time. There is also reference to Wilma Nissley, Emily Greene Balch, Jane Addams, Gertrude Bear and Clara Lee. Artifacts include a magnetic reel to reel, WILPF binder, photographs, posters, and scrapbooks.

Ninth Street Historic Park is a block of Victorian houses between Curtis and Champa Streets. Preserved in a park setting, this block contains the oldest part of Denver and has been integrated into the Auraria Campus. This collection consists of architectural, administrative, financial, and historical research files as well as maps that were amassed while converting Ninth Street from a residential block into offices for Auraria Campus between 1972 and 1976.
This material was collected by Dr. Abbott at the time he was involved in the planning of the Auraria Higher Education Center in downtown Denver. He used this material extensively while doing research for his book The Auraria Higher Education Center: How It Came To Be. This title was published in 1999 by the Auraria Higher Education Center in Denver, Colorado. The bulk of these records cover the time period of 1967 to 1972.
