Finding Films

This page walks you through different ways to search for film and streaming video. Auraria Library provides access to thousands of videos in streaming, DVD, and VHS formats. Streaming videos are viewable 24/7 with internet access. DVDs require you to visit Auraria Library and check out the DVD. You will also need access to your own DVD player.

Because we have films in several formats, you may need to search in several different places to see if Auraria Library provides access to the film you are looking for. Follow the steps below to find films. If you have any trouble remember, you can always chat us and ask for help from a librarian 24/7. 

 

Finding Films Using Start My Research

Start My Research is the main search tool for finding items that Auraria Library owns. You can start by using the search box located on the Auraria Library Homepage. 

  1. Type in the title of the film. Try using quotations around the title to search that exact phrase. Example search:
    • "Brief Encounter"
  2. Then select the "Media Only" open under the search box. This limits your search to streaming videos, DVDs, streaming audio, an dCDs.
  3. Select the Search button.
  4. Search Results appear under the heading results. In each result, there is a label telling you the format and how it is available. If it is a streaming video, it will have a link to view on line. But if it is a DVD it will likely have a call number. When you select "check availability", you will be able to see a DVDs location. The location and the call number are what you use to find a DVD. 

Other Databases for Streaming Films

In addition to Start My Research, the library subscribes to several streaming video databases. Most of the streaming databases contain educational videos. Below you will find links to the two database that folks on popular and classic film.
