Strictly speaking, homelessness can be defined as living without a roof over your head. The European Federation of National Organizations working with the Homeless (FEANTSA) argues that the concept of homelessness should be broadened beyond people who are roofless to include people who are houseless and people who live in insecure and inadequate housing. FEANTSA recognizes four categories of homelessness:
